Say Goodbye To The Khat Al-Balda Minibuses In Jeddah And Riyadh As They Take Their Final Few Routes

Avatar

The good ‘ole private minibuses, usually referred to as “Khat Al-Balda”, will soon be gone. According to authorities, the buses will put a stop to the operations of these old minibuses due to being cause of environmental and noise pollution.

The buses will soon be replaced with newer ones that comply with international safety standards, according to Saudi Gazette.

The old minibuses are a favorite for low-income expats in the Kingdom

With trips that cost SAR2 to SAR3, the buses have been a convenient option for Arab and Asian customers as it goes until midnight. A dependable option for many that would take them from city centers to other areas of Jeddah Riyadh.

The bus service will continue to operate only until the end of next month

We want to stop this service once and for all. The new buses would follow international standards for public transport

Abdullah Sayil Al-Motairy, spokesman for the transport authority (via SG)

So goodbye to these old minibuses, and hello to developments in the Kingdom
