By September, in just four short months, we can expect to take the first ever high-speed electric trains between Makkah and Madinah. According to Arab News, the Haramain train, designed to travel at a speed of 300km per hour will be the fastest in the region.
An announcement by Saudi’s Transport Minister Nabil bin Mohammed Al-Amoudi, carried out on Sunday mentioned that the train will fully-operate towards the beginning of 2019.

In an article by Arab News, Al-Amoudi stated that the 450-km line will go through the King Abdullah Economic City with a connected short line to King Abdulaziz International Airport (KAIA) in Jeddah. The train, like many new initiatives carried out this year, is expected to bring in more for Saudi’s economy by 2030.

It will also go from Makkah to Madinah through Jeddah, in less than 2 and a half hours. Bringing to the Kingdom, a faster and more convenient mode for pilgrims or travellers to reach their destination. The project is almost complete with 35 trains fully-equipped with all the facilities- with 417 seats per train available.
