The New Airport In Jeddah Is Set To Receive Its First Domestic Flight For Its Soft Opening TODAY


The new and improved King Abdulaziz International Airport (KAIA) has conducted its soft opening on Tuesday with the landing of a domestic flight from Al-Qurayyat. According to Saudi Gazette, the airport is set to begin services for both international and domestic flights by the time 2019 rolls around.

Photos from the soft opening have surfaced

The Jeddah Times posted photos of KAIA’s soft opening on Tuesday and it’s looking pretty great so far.

Experimental operations will go on for a week and commence from May 29 

During this time, a few flights will be handled through two of the new airport’s gates, as it gradually increases in the following week. The services will be managed through KAIA’s gates 11 and 17 in August and September.

The new airport is set to be one of the best and largest aviation hubs globally 

KAIA, located 19km north of Jeddah, is set to be a modern, high-technology airport that will be  a more effective gateway to the Two Holy Mosques.
