Two Saudi Arabian Cities Have Been Ranked By Cost of Living In The Middle East
The numbers have been deliberated through crowdsourcing and Expatisan has the low-down on which cities in the Arab world have the highest cost of living. Surprisingly, not one but two SAUDI ARABIAN cities made it onto the list.
Intrigued yet?
This website, often known as the ‘Wikipedia of prices’, added two cities on the fourth and 14th spot of the ‘highest cost’ of living in the region
And they are:
- Jeddah, in the 6th place, with a price index of 147
- Riyadh, in the 14th place, with a price index of 112
What is the cost of living index? Meaning, how was this measured?
People who have lived in different countries basically add their information onto the database and a reference point is used. To begin, there’s an assigning value of 100 to a central reference city, which in this case, is Prague.
“Once that reference point is known, the Price Index value of every other city in the database is calculated by comparing their cost of living to the cost of living in Prague.”
So, if one of the cities’ Price Index is at 134, this means it is 34% more expensive than living in Prague.
Other cities who made the list are Dubai, Abu Dhabi, Beirut, Kuwait City…
…and more
