Unlike the coastal areas, the central part of Saudi Arabia gets pretty cold during the winter. Riyadh though classified as having a “hot desert climate” it does get extremely chilly at times. The capital has even seen the mercury dip to below zero.
Here are the things almost Riyadhis go through during the chilly winters.
1. When it comes, you celebrate as you’ll finally get to go shopping the latest winter collection.
Plus, you have a sweater that you didn’t get a chance to use for a long time.
2. The cold breeze that blows when you open the windows of your house feels like bliss.
3. Logging on to check the temperature every now and then has become a habit of yours.
4. However, after a few days, you start getting tired of the weather and just hope that if it gets a little warmer it would be great again.
5. When the winter is at its peak, you find it difficult to believe that this was the same place that had temperatures of close to 50°C less than six months ago.
6. You have a tough time explaining to your friends from Dammam or Jeddah on how cold it really is.
7. If you’re a smoker then you can’t even imagine smoking outside at night.
8. You daunt waking up in the morning as you know the temperature outside and of the water in your tap is super cold. And, you start wishing that it all ends soon.
