{"id":49651,"date":"2019-06-29T12:11:45","date_gmt":"2019-06-29T12:11:45","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/lovinsaudi.com\/?p=4146"},"modified":"2019-06-29T12:11:45","modified_gmt":"2019-06-29T12:11:45","slug":"al-balad-jeddah-culture-hub","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/lovin.co\/jeddah\/en\/events\/al-balad-jeddah-culture-hub\/","title":{"rendered":"Jeddah\u2019s Al Balad Is Becoming The Ultimate Culture Hub And It Is Pretty Much A Must-Visit"},"content":{"rendered":"<p class=\"p1\"><span class=\"s1\">It is hardly that Saudi Arabia\u2019s is hard at work at giving its culture and heritage a revamp &#8211; both, to bring in international tourists and to foster an appreciation for culture at home.<\/span><\/p>\n<h2 class=\"p1\"><span class=\"s1\"><b>And Jeddah, particularly, has been making strides at it<\/b><\/span><\/h2>\n<p class=\"p1\"><span class=\"s1\">Al Balad, or Jeddah\u2019s historic district that is also a UNESCO World Heritage Site, particularly has been a focus of these revamps &#8211; not only has a LOT of restoration work has been going on in the neighborhood but also launching a number of initiatives that foster art and culture in the community.<\/span><\/p>\n<p>https:\/\/www.instagram.com\/p\/BzRwvCfhWqu\/<\/p>\n<h2 class=\"p1\"><span class=\"s1\">As part of Jeddah Season, the ongoing summer festival, Historic Jeddah also has a number of ongoing things<\/span><\/h2>\n<p class=\"p1\"><span class=\"s1\">Athr Gallery, for instance, is bringing a number of art-focused programs that will be accessible to everyone throughout the season and focus on Al Balad and it\u2019s heritage,<\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\"><span class=\"s1\">The country\u2019s first ever major charity art auction also took place in Al Balad last week and raised over SAR 4.7 million for the causes.<\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\"><span class=\"s1\">Art for Al Balad was organised by the Ministry of Culture in partnership with Christie\u2019s,\u00a0and included more than 40 works of contemporary Middle Eastern art that were generously donated for the sale by collectors, artists, and gallerists.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><img fetchpriority=\"high\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone wp-image-4148 size-full\" src=\"https:\/\/prod-lovin.s3.amazonaws.com\/lovinmedia\/uploads\/sites\/9\/2019\/06\/Photo-1-1.jpeg\" alt=\"\" width=\"1280\" height=\"853\" \/><\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\"><span class=\"s1\">The art offered in the auction was exhibited for two days prior to the sale, with hundreds of local residents and visitors descending on the historic Nassif House and attracted quite a crowd.<\/span><\/p>\n<h2 class=\"p1\"><span class=\"s1\">But Al Balad is not just a place that is increasingly becoming a hub for art-lovers, there is something going on for just about everyone<\/span><\/h2>\n<p>Currently, there is an open-air cinema, a scavenger-hunt, and a bunch of other activities going on.<\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\"><span class=\"s1\">Jeddah Seasons officially launched in Al Balad on June 8 with a number of events and shows taking place there daily.
