Karachi Zoo Upgrades: Mayor Wahab Opens Lion Enclosure and Reptile House

Karachi Zoo upgrades took center stage on December 28, 2025, as Mayor Murtaza Wahab officially opened the revamped Reptile House, a new lion enclosure, and several modern facilities for visitors.

Mayor Wahab unveiled new zoo attractions

Mayor Wahab cut the ribbon on the upgraded Reptile House and a sprawling two-acre lion enclosure, now home to the zoo’s own stars, Chandni and Rani. The new space is all about giving the lions a comfy, natural vibe, complete with bulletproof glass and splashy water features. Plus, there’s a brand-new tower for those Insta-worthy shots, and the zoo’s walkways and seating areas have been given a fresh, modern look.

Zoo focused on care, not new animals

Mayor Wahab made it clear: there’s no shopping spree for new big animals. The focus is on keeping the current residents happy and healthy, with more vets joining the team and better nutrition on the menu. The zoo kitchen is even opening up for public tours soon, so everyone can see what’s cooking for the animals. And yes, the entry fee is still super affordable—just Rs30 for kids and Rs50 for adults, with all proceeds going right back into making the zoo better.

Community vibes and city pride

Mayor Wahab is on a mission to shake off Karachi’s old image and turn it into a cleaner, more vibrant city. He’s calling on everyone—citizens, political parties, and animal lovers—to pitch in and make the zoo (and the city) shine. He’s also tackling bigger issues, like stray dogs, with a balanced approach that listens to both parents and animal activists. And for those who love a clean city, he’s doubling down on public awareness to keep Karachi looking its best.

Zoo upgrades part of bigger city plans

The zoo’s facelift is just one piece of a bigger puzzle. Mayor Wahab says 2025 is all about development, with projects like the Hub Canal and Cattle Colony flyover in the works. He’s inviting everyone to get involved, promising that with teamwork, Karachi can keep moving forward—one lion’s roar at a time!
