In a heartwarming event, a man and his sister, separated 75 years ago, finally reunited at Kartarpur, thanks to the power of social media.
Mahendra Kaur, 81, traveled from India to Gurdwara Darbar Sahib Kartarpur via the Kartarpur Corridor, accompanied by her family. Similarly, Sheikh Abdul Aziz, 78, arrived in Kartarpur from Azad Kashmir with his family. The Kartarpur Corridor, known as the Corridor of Love, Peace, and Reunification, brought together these long-lost siblings, originally from pre-partitioned India. Overwhelmed with emotion, they embraced each other, expressing deep sadness over the loss of their parents.
During the partition in 1947, the family of Sardar Bhajan Singh was tragically separated. Aziz moved to Azad Kashmir, while his other family members remained in India. After years of searching in vain, Aziz’s family came across a social media post detailing the separation of a man and his sister during the partition. Through this post, they connected with Mahendra and discovered their true relationship.
Amidst joy and tears, Mahendra and Aziz reunited, with the Kartarpur administration honoring the occasion with garlands and sweets. They visited Gurdwara Darbar Sahib Kartarpur together, sharing a meal and exchanging gifts as a symbol of their long-awaited reunion.
