Karachi Mayor Murtaza Wahab has issued a 60-day deadline to complete delayed city projects. He wants contractors to speed up their work, especially for projects that have not even started despite award letters. Any further delays will result in penalties or canceled contracts.
At a review meeting at the Karachi Metropolitan Corporation (KMC) Head Office, Mayor Wahab called the slow progress on 637 ongoing development schemes “unacceptable.” He instructed contractors to complete their work on time and emphasized that delays will not be tolerated.

The mayor launched Rapid Response Teams (RRTs) to fix urgent road repairs and other infrastructure problems across the city. These teams will reduce bottlenecks and help projects finish on schedule. Contractors who fall behind may lose their contracts.
Senior Director of Engineering Junaid Ullah Khan confirmed that 118 new projects under the Provincial Annual Development Plan (ADP) have started in Karachi’s districts, including East, Central, West, Korangi, and the E&M Wing.
As part of the upgrades, two streets already have solar-powered lighting, and Sharae Faisal is scheduled for the next solar upgrade. These steps are part of Mayor Wahab’s plan to improve city services and ensure timely completion of all projects
