Senior superstar Faisal Rehman recently opened up about his selective approach to television roles at this point in his career. While appearing as a guest on the Ramadan show Shan e Suhoor, the veteran actor discussed his criteria for accepting new projects. Having transitioned from a teenage film star to a respected television actor, he maintained that he no longer finds interest in playing the “hero’s father” if the character lacks a significant impact on the overall story.
During the conversation, Faisal Rehman clarified that his issue was not with the age of the character, but with the lack of development in the script. He stated that he only accepts roles where the father figure has a well-defined place in the narrative and actively contributes to the plot. He expressed his frustration with being offered “filler” characters that appear on screen without having a purpose or a meaningful arc within the television show.

The actor’s comments highlighted a shift in how senior performers view the industry’s writing standards. Faisal Rehman noted that he preferred to stay away from roles that did not challenge him or offer something substantial to the viewers. He pointed out that for a role to be worth his involvement, the character needed to do more than just exist in the background of the lead actors’ stories.
By choosing to prioritize quality over frequent appearances, Faisal Rehman continues to maintain the high standard of work that has defined his decades-long career. His stance serves as a call for scriptwriters to create more engaging and essential roles for the industry’s veteran stars.
