Sahibzada Farhan and Fatima Sana Earn Nominations for ICC Player of the Month

Sahibzada Farhan

Pakistan’s cricket stars Sahibzada Farhan and Women’s team captain Fatima Sana have been shortlisted for the ICC Player of the Month awards for February 2026. The International Cricket Council announced the nominees following a month of record-breaking performances, particularly during the Men’s T20 World Cup and Pakistan’s women’s tour of South Africa. Both athletes are recognized for their exceptional contributions that placed them among the global elite for the month.

Sahibzada Farhan Shatters World Cup Scoring Records

Opening batter Sahibzada Farhan earned his spot on the list after a historic run during the ICC Men’s T20 World Cup 2026. Farhan finished the tournament as the highest run-scorer, amassing a total of 383 runs at an impressive strike rate of 160.25.

In doing so, he surpassed the long-standing record held by Virat Kohli (319 runs) for the most runs in a single edition of the tournament. Farhan’s average of 76.60 was bolstered by two centuries against Namibia and Sri Lanka, making him the first player in history to score two hundreds in a single edition of the Men’s T20 World Cup. His consistent performance at the top of the order was a driving force behind Pakistan’s journey to the Super 8 stage.

Fatima Sana Leads from the Front in South Africa

On the women’s side, captain Fatima Sana was nominated for her outstanding all-round display during Pakistan’s tour of South Africa. Despite the team facing narrow series losses, Sana was a standout performer in both departments. She recorded a career-best 90 in the first T20I and later guided her team to victory in the third match with an unbeaten 47 and bowling figures of 2 for 12.

Sana’s contributions were not limited to the shortest format; she also made her presence felt in the ODIs with a half-century (52) and crucial wickets. She finished the tour with a total of six wickets across both formats, proving her worth as one of the world’s premier all-rounders.

The winners of the February 2026 awards will be decided based on a combination of votes from independent experts and cricket fans around the world.
