In a significant development, high-profile RSF commander Abuagla Kaykal has surrendered to the Sudanese Armed Forces (SAF), marking the first major defection from the RSF ranks. Kaykal’s decision to switch sides comes after realizing the “falsehood” of the RSF’s agenda, which he described as a “regional and international conspiracy” aimed at destroying Sudan.
Shortly after Kaykal’s surrender, videos began circulating showing the crumbling morale of RSF soldiers. In these videos, soldiers send a direct plea to RSF leader Hemedti, urging a withdrawal from the ongoing conflict.

Following Kaykal’s surrender, the Sudanese Armed Forces renewed their offer of amnesty to any rebel who chooses to side with the nation and report to the nearest military command. SAF leadership praised Kaykal’s move and emphasized that their doors remain open to those willing to abandon the RSF.
This came in the form of an official press release published across the Sudanese Armed Forces official platforms.

There has been no official comment from the RSF following Kaykal’s defection. However, their social media presence has significantly declined, with several official pages being removed for violating platform rules. This comes amid the rising pressure on the group both on the battlefield and online.
RSF twitter account @RSFSudan currently suspended for violating the rules – a seminal moment for Sudanese voices like @MuhammedKambal who have been pushing for RSF/Hemedti account suspension.
