The Sudanese Armed Forces (SAF) have officially reclaimed Wad Madani, the capital of El Gezira state, from the Rapid Support Forces (RSF), and the moment is being celebrated across the globe.
Located a mere 87 miles south of the capital, Khartoum, Wad Madani is a key crossroads that connects Sudan’s states via major supply highways.

The news has thrilled Sudanese people across the globe. In Madani, residents poured into the streets, singing, dancing, and celebrating their newfound liberation, while cities across Sudan lit up with festivities, sharing in the joy of this historic moment.
After enduring over a year under siege, the city of Madani was thrown into turmoil. Over 300,000 people were forced to flee their homes, aid organizations struggled to keep up with the growing crisis, and families were left scrambling for safety amidst the chaos.
With Wad Madani now under SAF control, the army has significantly strengthened its position. This victory paves the way for further advances, particularly toward Khartoum, marking a pivotal moment in the nearly two-year conflict. However, the country’s future remains deeply uncertain, and recovery will be far from immediate.

Sudan will be liberated by the end of this year inshallah! 2026 will be the year we rebuilt all that we’ve lost. It’s been far too much suffering and grief, we deserve the wins and joy. Sudan will be free and we will return ❤️🇸🇩
