In a remarkable acknowledgment of Sudan’s humanitarian efforts during a time of crisis, the Peace Research Institute Oslo (PRIO) has nominated Sudan’s Emergency Response Rooms for a 2024 Nobel Peace Prize.
This nomination highlights the incredible work done by decentralized teams of volunteers who have been providing lifesaving services amidst one of the most severe conflicts the country has ever seen.

These teams have been operating since the outbreak of war on April 15, 2023, delivering essential humanitarian aid across the country. From offering medical supplies and food to setting up evacuation routes, the Emergency Response Rooms have been a beacon of hope for millions.
Despite facing harassment, violence, and limited resources, their resilience and commitment have helped save countless lives.

Henrik Urdal, Director of PRIO, praised the dedication of these volunteers, stating that they stepped in when the international humanitarian system struggled to meet the overwhelming needs.
