A major food fraud operation was uncovered in Kuwait, and it’s raising serious concerns. Authorities seized a jaw-dropping 23 tons of tampered food products during a warehouse raid that revealed expired goods, fake labels, and a serious threat to public health.
Inspectors from the Ministry of Commerce and Industry, along with the Public Authority for Food and Nutrition, raided a warehouse linked to a well-known food retail company. Inside, workers were caught red-handed changing product labels, and placing fake expiry dates on goods that were already spoiled.
This wasn’t just a harmless mix-up behind the scenes, it was a serious risk to people’s health. Selling expired food with fake labels puts public health directly at risk and authorities are not downplaying it. They called the deception criminal and emphasised the importance of consequences in such cases.
They emphasised that those responsible will face the full force of the law and stressed that food safety is treated as a matter of national security. The ministry urged the public to report any suspicious activity to help keep markets safe.
