Pioneer Shabib Mubarak Al-Ajmi Opens Kuwait’s First Ever Deer Reserve!

After three years of hard work and dedication, Kuwait is now home to its very first deer reserve, thanks to the efforts of environmental activist Shabib Mubarak Al-Ajmi. Located in the Umm Qadeer region, the Al-Wadihi Reserve was created as a safe haven for wildlife and a step toward growing eco-tourism in the country.

A Milestone for Conservation

Shabib Mubarak Al-Ajmi poured three years of passion into bringing the Al-Wadihi Reserve to life in southwest Kuwait. Inside, you’ll find 30 Arabian oryx and 10 Arabian gazelles, animals Shabib raised with care, not to be sold, but simply because he believes in protecting them. He feeds them daily with natural grasses and fodder, making sure they’re healthy and thriving. He wants the reserve to be a place where people can appreciate animals for more than just their worth.

A Home For Cherished Animals

For Shabib, it’s never been about profit. It’s about preserving Kuwait’s wildlife and helping future generations understand the importance of protecting nature.

Welcoming Visitors To Nature’S Calm

The reserve is completely free to visit and open to all, offering a quiet escape into nature. Al-Ajmi described the reserve as a vital part of his life, a quiet spot away from the city’s hustle and pollution. He warmly welcomes visitors to experience the natural beauty Kuwait has to offer firsthand.

A Thriving Green Oasis

Beyond the deer, the reserve is surrounded by over 7,000 wild trees and 500 Sidr trees, the space has become a small green oasis that also supports rare species like wild ducks, ostriches, and even the elusive sand cat. This isn’t just a win for conservation, it’s a beautiful step forward for biodiversity in Kuwait.
