Soon Dubai Roads Will Be Taken Over By Female RTA Bus Drivers Running The Show

Avatar

RTA has hired their first female drivers for public transport in Dubai. The three female drivers started their jobs last week and have won the hearts of many online.

Until recently, bus driving was an exclusive profession for men in the Middle East, despite women already driving taxis, it is always fantastic to see more women get involved in male dominant industries.

The female drivers have further expressed feeling ‘proud’ to be a part of RTAs growth

RTA claims that the number of female drivers they have for each sector are, 165 taxi drivers, 41 limousine chauffeurs, and 1 school bus driver.

The CEO of RTA said, “This initiative goes with the best global practices of employing female drivers.” He highlighted that such a job opportunity for women will help them take part in male dominant fields. Also, having women as part of this field will encourage and promote the public transport culture, which as a result will be better service for customers.

Dubai residents absolutely love this initiative

For the time being, RTA’s newest recruits will be heading the following routes:

  • Route 77, which links between the following:
    • Baniyas
    • Deira City Centre
    • Terminals 1 and 3 of Dubai International Airport
  • Route F36, which links the metro line service between the following:
    • Mall of the Emirates
    • Dubai Science Park
    • Al Barsha South
  • Route F70, which links to the metro line service in Bur Dubai through the following:
    • Burjuman Mall
    • Al Fahidi Heritage District
