The crossover fans have been dreaming of might actually be on the horizon. Academy Award-winning British actor Riz Ahmed has officially signaled his interest in sharing the screen with Pakistan’s very own Mahira Khan, sending social media into a frenzy over the potential pairing.
The conversation sparked during Riz Ahmed’s recent appearance on the BBC Asian Network with host Haroon Rashid. While promoting his latest project, Bait, on Prime Video, the actor was asked a question that has been on the minds of many: why haven’t two of the biggest names in the global South Asian diaspora worked together yet?
During the interview, Haroon Rashid pointed out that even Riz Ahmed’s own family has questioned why a collaboration with the The Legend of Maula Jatt star hasn’t happened yet. Riz didn’t hesitate to respond, showing he is completely on board with the idea.
“I’m ready. I’m here. Let’s make it happen,” Riz replied enthusiastically.
The clip of the exchange was quickly shared on Instagram, with the caption suggesting a romantic drama between the two—a concept that quickly gathered thousands of likes and supportive comments from fans across the globe.

While Mahira Khan has yet to issue a direct personal statement, her digital media platform, Mashion, was quick to join the conversation. Resharing the viral clip, the platform noted that they, along with the rest of the fans, are “still waiting” for this powerhouse duo to unite.
The buzz didn’t stop there. While the majority of fans are rooting for a Riz-Mahira collab, others have already started pitching different pairings, suggesting that the Hamlet actor would also share great chemistry with other Pakistani stars like Sajal Aly or Yumna Zaidi.
Whether it’s a gritty drama or a soulful romance, the ball is now firmly in the court of directors and producers. With Riz Ahmed officially declaring himself “ready,” the industry might just be one script away from the most anticipated collaboration of the decade.
