Rain, drama, and a dash of Omani magic brought Ahmad Al Harthy and his Team WRT crew roaring back to the FIA World Endurance Championship podium in Texas. The sixth round at Circuit of the Americas was anything but ordinary, with wild weather and wild moves shaking up the leaderboard. Al Harthy, alongside Valentino Rossi and Kelvin van der Linde, powered through the chaos to snatch a well-earned second place finish.
Heavy rain soaked the track, forcing the field to tiptoe behind the Safety Car for the opening laps. Red flags waved after just over an hour, leaving teams scrambling to rethink their strategies. When racing finally resumed, Al Harthy wasted no time, slicing through the pack and showing off his wet-weather skills. The Omani ace jumped from ninth to sixth in a flash, setting up his team for a thrilling charge.
Switching drivers and tyres became a high-stakes game. Rossi took the wheel and climbed from tenth to sixth, while van der Linde later stormed from tenth to second in the final half hour, thanks to a bold switch to slick tyres on the drying track. The No.46 BMW team’s pit stops and quick decisions kept them in the hunt, and a post-race penalty for a rival bumped them up to a sparkling second place.
Al Harthy called it one of the wildest races of his career, thrilled to stand on the American podium for the first time. He thanked his supporters back home in Oman, his teammates, and the entire crew for their relentless effort. With momentum on their side and spirits high, the team now sets their sights on the next FIA WEC round at Fuji Speedway in Japan, ready for more action and, hopefully, more trophies.
