A dramatic scene unfolded in South Al Batinah when five people were arrested for a crime that sounds straight out of a suspense movie. The group lured a man online, posed as a woman, and then kidnapped and extorted him in a plot full of twists and turns.
Investigators shared that the victim met someone he thought was a woman through a dating app. The suspects, working together, hatched a plan to trick him. One of them pretended to be the woman, chatting with the victim only through text messages. They set up a meeting spot, but the victim never saw or heard the person he was talking to.
When the victim arrived at the agreed location, things took a wild turn. He was suddenly surrounded by two cars, and a group of people jumped out. They pulled him from his vehicle and whisked him away to a house, leaving his car behind. The whole operation was carefully planned, and the victim was completely caught off guard.
The Royal Oman Police wasted no time. Officers, including Captain Adel bin Abdullah Al Kalbani, Head of the Crime Fighting Department, led the investigation. Thanks to their efforts, all five suspects were arrested and legal proceedings have begun. The case serves as a reminder to stay alert online and always double-check who you’re really talking to.
