H.E. the Foreign Minister Badr Al Busaidi Calls for Ceasefire Extension

Oman’s Foreign Minister, Sayyid Badr Albusaidi, has reiterated calls for calm and continued diplomacy following recent regional developments, emphasizing the urgent need to extend the ceasefire and keep peace talks alive.

In a post shared on X, the Minister said that both U.S. Vice President JD Vance and the U.S. President expressed a strong preference to avoid war, instead urging an immediate extension of the ceasefire and continued negotiations between involved parties.

He noted that while negotiations may require difficult concessions from all sides, these compromises are far less costly than the consequences of armed conflict, reinforcing the importance of diplomacy over escalation.

The statement comes in the context of Pakistan-mediated peace talks between Iran and the United States, which took place over the weekend following a recently agreed two-week ceasefire. However, reports indicate that these discussions concluded after only 21 hours.

Oman continues to position itself as a key regional mediator, consistently advocating for dialogue, de-escalation, and long-term stability across the region.
