Oman and Russia just hit a major milestone, celebrating forty years of diplomatic friendship in Muscat. The Foreign Ministry and the Russian Embassy teamed up for a lively event, shining a spotlight on decades of teamwork and shared goals since 1985.
Sheikh Khalifa Alharthy, the Foreign Ministry Undersecretary for Political Affairs, took the stage to remind everyone how far the two countries have come since signing their first agreement in 1985. He gave a special shoutout to His Majesty Sultan Haitham bin Tarik for his role back then, and highlighted the Sultan’s recent state visit to Russia in April 2025, which brought in fresh agreements and set the stage for even more collaboration.

Oleg Vladimirovich Levin, Russia’s Ambassador to Oman, called His Majesty’s Moscow visit and his talks with President Vladimir Putin a real game-changer. Both sides are eager to keep the momentum going, with plans to boost cooperation in all sorts of areas—think business, culture, and more—all while supporting regional and global stability.
The event wrapped up with a renewed promise from both countries to keep building on their friendship, making sure it benefits their people and helps keep the region—and the world—a little more secure and connected.
