Drawn into Group A with heavyweights like India, Pakistan, and the UAE, Oman faced a true test of nerves. The squad, led by Jatinder Singh, kicked off their campaign on September 12 against Pakistan in Dubai, followed by matches with the UAE and India. Facing such cricketing titans might seem intimidating, but Oman’s players saw it as a golden ticket to learn, adapt, and shine on the big stage.
Mixed it up with new faces and fresh energy
Shuffled the squad at the last minute, Oman called up Wasim Ali and Jitenkumar Ramanandi to replace injured and unavailable players. The team’s blend of youthful energy and experienced heads, guided by coach Duleep Mendis and deputy Sulakshan Kulkarni, brought a spark to their preparations.
