Oman just shook up the food delivery scene with a bold new move: every delivery agent and supervisor now needs a license, no exceptions allowed. The government is serving up these rules to spice up competition, keep things fair, and make sure your next order arrives with a side of quality service.
Officials made it clear that the new regulations apply to all companies—local, regional, or foreign—so nobody gets a free pass. If you want to keep your delivery staff on the road, you’ll need to secure those shiny new licenses. Forget about work permits unless you’re playing by the new rulebook.
Authorities didn’t hold back when it came to consequences for rule-breakers. Companies caught without proper licenses could face fines between 1,000 and 2,000 OMR, a stint in jail from ten days to a month, and even deportation for unlicensed workers. Company licenses could be suspended for up to two years, and there’s no wiggle room—deadlines are set in stone.
Zaher bin Abdullah Al Sheikh, the ministry’s Director of Professional Standards, explained that these rules are all about raising the bar for everyone. The goal? Uniform standards, fair competition, and better service for customers across Oman. Every company, big or small, must play by the same rules—no special treatment, just a level playing field for all.
