Oman’s Para Sailors Secured Podium Spots

Oman Sail’s SailFree national para sailing team recently made waves at the Hansa UK National Championship held in Weymouth. Partnering with bp Oman, the squad showcased impressive talent and determination, securing two spots on the podium against strong international competitors.

Omani Sailors Excelled In Weymouth

The championship saw the Omani team deliver a stellar performance. Competing against sailors from around the world, the SailFree athletes demonstrated their skill and hard work, making their mark on the international stage. Their efforts paid off, resulting in the team proudly clinching both second and third place finishes.

Oman Sail officials praised the team’s dedication and achievement. Khamis Al Anbori, acting commercial director, highlighted how the performance proves sailing truly is a sport for everyone and expressed pride in the team representing Oman globally. Ibrahim Al Hinai, social investment manager at bp Oman, Kuwait, and Qatar, noted the success follows the second edition launch of the SailFree program, which began in two thousand nineteen and has introduced over two hundred athletes with disabilities to competitive sailing, establishing itself as a regional leader in inclusive sports development.

High Placements Achieved By Team Members

Individual team members shined brightly at the event. The duo of Ali Said Al Ghusaini and Sami Salim Al Sulaimi skillfully navigated their way to a fantastic second-place finish, showcasing exceptional teamwork. Close behind, Hasan Haidar Al Lawati and Adil Salim Al Siyabi earned a commendable third place, rounding out Oman’s strong showing in the competition. Four Omani crews participated overall, demonstrating the growing pool of para sailing talent in the nation, with guidance from team leader Nasser Salim Al Maashari and coaching support from Haitham Saif Al Wahaibi and Akram Adaiyam Al Wahaibi.
