Talk about a real-life hero! Shazad Khan, a brave soul from Peshawar, Pakistan, recently became the talk of Oman after he fearlessly rescued two Indian nationals from a raging flood. His incredible act of courage has earned him heartfelt honors from both the Pakistani Ambassador and the vibrant Indian community in Oman.
On a fateful Sunday, heavy rains turned the wadis in Barka, Oman, into treacherous torrents, trapping two Indian nationals inside their vehicle. The situation looked dire as their white SUV became overturned and partially submerged in the powerful, muddy current. But fear not, because Shazad Khan sprang into action! Without a second thought, he bravely climbed onto the submerged car, used stones to break the windows, and pulled both individuals to safety. What a legend!
Following his incredible feat, Shazad Khan received a wave of appreciation. The Pakistani Ambassador to Oman, along with the broader Indian community, stepped up to honor their hero. It was a moment filled with pride, echoing sentiments like ‘Allah, Indian community, pura community ka bahut bahut shukriya. Thank you.’ The background music during the celebrations even featured powerful lyrics, ‘Main Pakistan hoon, main Pakistan hoon, main Zindabad hoon, main Zindabad hoon,’ which translates to ‘I am Pakistan, I am Pakistan, I am immortal/long live, I am immortal/long live,’ truly capturing the spirit of national pride and gratitude for Shazad Khan’s selfless act.
The appreciation didn’t stop there! The Kerala community in Oman also made sure to give Shazad Khan a grand salute, especially since the two people he rescued hailed from the Indian state of Kerala. During a heartwarming indoor ceremony, Shazad Khan was presented with a framed certificate or plaque and draped in a golden shawl, a true symbol of honor. Speakers at the event, including one who thanked ‘Mr. Muscat Khan’ and Shazad Khan in Hindi, expressed ‘Many, many thanks to the entire Indian community, the entire Keralite Indian community… many thanks,’ even prompting a line in Malayalam to connect with the Keralite roots. It was a beautiful display of unity and gratitude for a hero who truly went above and beyond.
