The Environment Authority in Dhofar Governorate, alongside the National Survey Authority and the Royal Air Force of Oman, recently brought an exciting new project to life at the summit of Samhan Mountain. This innovative initiative, called the Metal Compass Project, is set to transform the mountain peak into a captivating environmental, tourism, and cultural landmark, offering unique experiences for all. A Striking Landmark Was Installed

At the ‘Moden’ summit, standing tall at 1,757.6 meters above sea level, an impressive concrete monument crowned with a metal compass structure was carefully put in place. This distinctive landmark not only points to the four cardinal directions but also highlights nearby environmental and tourism attractions, reinforcing the reserve’s unique cultural and natural identity. Moden summit is indeed one of Oman’s most remarkable natural locations and holds the impressive title of the country’s second-highest mountain peak.
