In a devastating blow to civilians sheltering in a designated humanitarian zone, an Israeli strike on the tent camps of al-Mawasi in Khan Younis has left 40 dead and 60 injured, according to Gaza’s civil defense agency. Rescue operations are ongoing, but a lack of necessary tools has hindered efforts, leaving entire families missing under the rubble.
Israel claims it was targeting a Hamas command center in the area, a statement Hamas has denounced as a “blatant lie.” The strike left behind deep craters and flattened up to 40 tents, as survivors and emergency responders continue their desperate search for those still missing.
The tragedy in al-Mawasi adds to the growing list of massacres in Gaza, with civilians continually caught in the Israeli genocide that shows no mercy for those seeking safety.
