Just eleven years old, Yaqeen Hammad stood out as Gaza’s youngest media activist and a dedicated volunteer. Showing wisdom well beyond her years, Yaqeen became a symbol of hope in places clouded by fear and hardship.
Living under challenging conditions in the Gaza Strip, she skillfully connected with tens of thousands through her popular Instagram videos. Some clips highlighted important aid efforts helping orphans and families displaced by conflict, while others captured her sharing moments of laughter and play with children, happily distributing gifts.

Sadly, Yaqeen’s powerful voice was suddenly quieted one Friday night in Deir al-Balah. An Israeli airstrike hit her neighborhood, tragically resulting in her death beneath the rubble. The girl who brought comfort and smiles is now remembered as another name on a growing list of lives lost, marking the silencing of one of Gaza’s youngest and bravest voices.
Today was a day of joy for Gaza’s orphans, we were giving them new clothes to bring a little happiness.
Emergency crews later described the scene as unbearably painful.
Yaqeen frequently joined her older brother, Mohamed Hammad, a humanitarian worker, on his aid missions. Together, they formed a determined team, personally delivering essential supplies like food, clothing, and toys to families displaced by the ongoing situation.

News of Yaqeen’s passing caused widespread sorrow across Gaza and social media platforms. Activists, journalists, and many followers expressed deep grief over the loss of a child who had come to represent a beacon of light during one of Gaza’s most difficult times. Born into blockade, raised under bombardment, and shaped by trauma, Yaqeen courageously chose action over silence.
