An NYU spokesperson accused Rozos of misrepresenting his speech’s content to push ‘personal and one-sided political views’. The university administration has strongly denounced Rozos’ remarks, with a spokesperson stating, ‘This moment was stolen by someone who abused a privilege that was conferred upon him,’ and confirmed that Rozos’ diploma is being withheld pending disciplinary action.
In his speech, Rozos stated that the ‘genocide currently occurring is supported politically and militarily by the united states, is paid for by our tax dollars, and has been live-streamed to our phones,’ further adding, ‘i condemn this genocide and complicity in this genocide.’ Rozos’s remarks come amidst heightened tensions on U.S. campuses regarding pro-Palestinian activism.
