A recent investigation by The Guardian revealed that Palestinian detainees were deported from U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) custody to Israel before being transferred to checkpoints in the occupied West Bank. The operation reportedly involved privately chartered flights and has raised serious political, legal, and human rights concerns.
The flights reportedly transported Palestinian men from an airport near an ICE detention center in Arizona to Tel Aviv, where they were later released by Israeli authorities at West Bank checkpoints. Some deportees said they were shackled during the journey and left with limited support after arrival.

According to the investigation, at least two flights in January and February were carried out using a private Gulfstream jet owned by Israeli-American businessman and Trump associate Gil Dezer. The aircraft was reportedly chartered through a Florida-based aviation company frequently used by U.S. authorities.
Flight data and reports indicate the plane made refueling stops in New Jersey, Ireland, and Bulgaria before landing in Tel Aviv. Aviation sources estimated the chartered deportation flights may have cost hundreds of thousands of dollars each.

Human rights advocates and immigration lawyers described the deportations as politically sensitive and potentially unprecedented. Critics argue the operation reflects a shift toward more aggressive deportation tactics and raises concerns about due process and accountability.
The U.S. Department of Homeland Security defended deportations broadly but did not address specific questions about the flights. Israel’s foreign ministry declined to comment on its involvement, while Dezer told The Guardian he was not aware of who was on board when the jet was chartered
