RAK hikers and outdoor lovers, this one matters!
Members of the hiking community shared photos showing plastic bottles, cans, bags, and other litter scattered in an area usually known for its peaceful views and natural beauty.
Hikers say the problem has become more noticeable lately as more people head outdoors to enjoy Ras Al Khaimah’s mountains and wadis. While it takes away from the experience, the bigger concern is protecting the environment. Hikers hope these spots stay clean, safe and enjoyable for everyone now and in the future!

Hikers say the solution is simple and comes down to responsible behaviour. Visitors are encouraged to plan ahead by bringing trash bags with them and ensuring all waste is taken back home after their hike or camping trip. This includes food packaging, bottles, cans, and any other items brought into the area.
They also remind visitors to leave the place as they found it, respecting nature and the experience of others. These mountains and wadis are shared spaces, enjoyed by families, hikers, and adventurers year-round. By treating them with care, everyone can continue to enjoy Ras Al Khaimah’s natural landscapes in a clean and safe way.
