If you’re planning on going around Dubai this week, then take note because the UAE cycling tour, previously known as The Dubai Tour, is well underway and will see several road closures in the city.
This major cycling spectacle started today in Abu Dhabi, and will make its way across the UAE to conclude in Dubai on March 2, so prepare to get affected by traffic diversions towards the end of the week.
The UAE tour features 20 cycling teams and some of the biggest names of the industry are taking part in this elite race.
Monday: Yas Mall, Abu Dhabi to Khalifa Port and then back to Saadiyat Island
Road closure starts from from 11.25am to 4.25pm.
Tuesday: Al Ain to Jebel Hafeet
The closure will start from Nahyan The First Street at 11.30am to Jebel Hafeet Road at about 4.25pm.
Wednesday: Palm Jumeirah to Hatta Dam
The longest stage of the tour will start from Palm Jumeirah via Hajar Mountains and finally ending at Hatta Dam at 3.55pm. Road closures will start at 11am and will affect routes near Madinat Jumeirah and Al Sufouh Road.
Thursday: Sharjah to Khor Fakkan
Roads will be closed from 11:35am at Sharjah University to the University of Khalba through Fujairah and Khor Fakkan, at 3.55pm.
Friday: Ajman to Jebel Jais
The E11 road in Ajman will be closed at 11.20pm, while roads in Umm Al Quwain and Ras Al Khaimah will be shut throughout the day at 2.55pm
Saturday: Dubai Safari Park to City Walk
Dubai streets will be affected all day on Saturday starting at 12:25pm from Dubai Safari, snaking past Dubai Design District, Mushrif Park, Al Mamzar Beach, Deira and Port Rashid before reaching Jumeirah Road and concluding at City Walk, at 3.55pm.
