Autonomous flying vehicles, Hyperloop and now a sea taxi, if this doesn’t give you a glimpse of what the future holds in Dubai, then we don’t what will!
Think about it, the all-too-familiar noise of traffic woes for people travelling between Dubai and Sharjah might soon fade into oblivion if this new transport service is introduced.
As per Khaleej Times, CEO of Sharjah Oasis Real Estate Development, Sultan Al Shakrah revealed that the upcoming Sharjah Waterfront City property could include ‘sea taxis’ in its development plan, which will ferry people between Dubai Marina and Sharjah.
This certainly will improve the traffic problem on the Sheikh Zayed road to a great extent.
“To help residents that will be living at Sharjah Waterfront City, avoid getting stuck in traffic, we have devised a proposal for the RTA for sea taxis. People travelling between the two emirates can commute using a combination of the sea taxis and the bus and metro network.
The good thing about this mode of transportation is that you can go from Dubai Marina to any other marina in the emirates. There is no reason to be limited to just travel between Dubai and Sharjah. A network can be created between marinas in emirates with beach developments such as Ras Al Khaimah and even Abu Dhabi. The idea can be revolutionary if it gets the green light.”

According to the report, the proposal is now at a discussion stage between the developer and the RTA.
