RAK Update: Early Spring Break, Limited Flights And Attractions Open

Schools and universities begin early spring break across the UAE

As of March 9, 2026, some of the information previously circulating about closures and disruptions in Ras Al Khaimah now needs updating. The situation has shifted over the past few days, especially for schools, universities and travel.

One of the biggest changes is in education. Earlier updates had stated that schools and universities across the UAE were operating through distance learning until Friday, March 6. That is no longer the latest position.

The newer announcement says spring break has been brought forward, with holidays now running from Monday, March 9, to Sunday, March 22 for schools and universities across the country.

RAK Airport operating with limited flights

For travellers, Ras Al Khaimah International Airport is operating with limited flights and services, rather than full normal operations. Recent UAE travel updates continue to advise passengers to check directly with their airline before heading to the airport, as schedules may still change. Anyone flying soon should only travel after receiving confirmation from their carrier.

As for work arrangements, the previously announced remote work recommendation for the private sector was a temporary measure that applied from March 1 to March 3, 2026. That means it should not be presented as a current blanket status on March 9 without a newer official update extending it.

Jebel Jais open while essential services continue across RAK

On the tourism side, Jebel Jais appears to be open and operating, with its official website continuing to show activities, attractions and event listings. That supports the view that the destination is currently running, although visitors should still check official channels before making the trip.

For essential day-to-day services in Ras Al Khaimah, there has been no broad public indication in the latest accessible reporting that supermarkets, healthcare services, or core hotel operations have been widely shut down. Even so, venue-specific operations can still vary, so it is always safer to confirm directly with the property, organiser or service provider.

What residents and visitors should know right now

The bottom line is this: older guides published earlier this month are no longer fully current. On March 9, 2026, the most important updates are that schools and universities are now on early spring break, Ras Al Khaimah Airport is still running limited operations, and Jebel Jais appears open. For anything event-specific or travel-related, checking official channels remains the safest step.
