Swimmers Are Warned To Avoid Certain Areas After ‘Red Tide’ Develops Along UAE Coast
Swimmers and fishermen on the Western Coast of the Arabian Gulf and the Eastern Coast of the Gulf of Oman be warned; the presence of ‘Red Tide’ has been observed and is being closely monitored by authorities.
Red tide, or algae bloom, signifies the presence of phytoplankton, a naturally occurring phenomenon, some types of which can be poisonous to humans (at this point, no poisonous phytoplankton has been detected).
The Ras Al Khaimah Environmental Protection and Development Authority alerted authorities who have warned swimmers and fishermen to remain clear of the areas alongside the economic zone overlooking the west coast of the Arabian Gulf and the eastern coast of the Gulf of Oman.
