A European woman who was hiking in the mountainous area near Wadi Showka in Ras Al Khaimah became stranded after she fell and injured her leg.
Unable to walk, an emergency call was made to organise a rescue mission.
The Air Ambulance Crews in the Air Wing Department at the General Directorate of Security Support at the Ministry of Interior were tasked with the rescue and faced some challenges.
Where the injured tourist was located made it impossible for a rescue team to reach her by land and also for a rescue aircraft to land.
Due to these difficulties the Air Ambulance Crew had to use a crane to rescue the woman.
She was transported to Al Dhaid hospital where she was treated for her injuries.
Authorities have reminded people to take the necessary safety precautions, including protective clothing and special equipment, when taking part in adventure activities such as climbing and hiking.
