Ras Al Khaimah Tourism Witnesses Bounce Back To Pre-Pandemic Turnout

RAK’s tourism sector’s performance in 2022 has been bolstered by the opening of several new hotels and resorts

Ras Al Khaimah Tourism Development Authority announced a major bounce back in number of visitors in the first half of 2022. The highest number to date since the onset of Covid-19.

The emirate has welcomed over 521,085 international and domestics visitors in the first 6 months of 2022, which is a whopping 21% increase from the first half of 2021.

The emirate’s latest attractions are definitely contributing factors to the flourishing in number of visitors.

New resorts that have recently attracted visitors include: Radisson Resort Ras Al Khaimah on Marjan Island, the InterContinental Mina Al Arab, the first InterContinental Hotels Group property in the Emirate, and most recently, and the debut of Mövenpick on the stunning Al Marjan Island.

Sustainable tourism

Ras Al Khaimah Tourism Development Authority made an announcement at the 2022 Arabian Travel Market to mark it’s strategy towards growing and establishing the emirate as a leader in the region for sustainable tourism. Which is a major driving force to the emirate bouncing back to its pre-pandemic numbers.

The latest sustainable attractions to make the emirate it’s home is the Jais Sledder, the largest toboggan ride in the area with 1,840 thrilling meters of  twists and turns at speeds of 40 kilometres per hour, which turned up over 54,000 riders since its launch in February.
