Foreigners Now Want To Add Saudi To Their Bucket List Thanks To This Photographer’s Shot Of Mada’in Saleh

Australian aerial photographer, Gab Scanu, visited the Kingdom in February and did just as he does in most of his travels- created magic using a camera. Well, in this case, a drone. Scanu’s photos of the UNESCO World Heritage site Mada’in Saleh are so amazing that it turned Saudi doubters into potential Saudi visitors.

And why not?

Tourist visas are already being rolled out this month anyway.

Standing before thousands of years of ancient history, deep in the Al Ula Desert. Just wrapped up the most insane 10 days exploring Saudi Arabia, a country not yet even open for tourism. One of those magical moments where time stood still and nothing seemed real. Little islands? Nope..

If you thought these were mini islands, think again. In his photo caption, Scanu said these were ancient coral gardens spotted throughout the middle of the ocean.

When I took my @djiglobal #MavicAir a few hours into the middle of the Red Sea I definitely didn’t expect to see this. At first glance these may look like little islands but they’re in fact ancient coral gardens spotted throughout the middle of the ocean. We pulled up and snorkeled in these little reefs for the rest of the day, exploring the life that lives below. This was such an unforgettable experience.

A six hour boat trip into the middle of the Red Sea doesn’t seem so long when you find little bits of paradise like this along the way. Had the most amazing day in the middle of the ocean using my @djiglobal #MavicAir to capture the unique reefs and coral gardens we stumbled across.

Cruising through the ancient canyons of the Saudi Arabian Desert. This was the ultimate off-roading adventure in one of the worlds most unique landscapes. Me and @notjvck used the Active Track feature on the new @djiglobal #MavicAir to follow us through these tight canyons and capture our every move while we ripped up the sand below. Pulling up next to mother nature’s natural swimming pool in the middle of the Red Sea. Swimming in these ancient coral gardens was one of the most unique experiences of my life. Places and experiences like this are what inspire me most, what’s inspiring you guys at the moment?

Foreigners are now starting to take notice of Saudi’s incredible beauty and history

Many of the comments found on Gab Scanu’s ‘Saudi’ photo set on Instagram were positive. People were surprised that the Kingdom would have sites as such, or let alone allow people to visit it. The misconceptions about Saudi is gradually decreasing with creatives like Scanu who show these things to the world.
