Sea and beach pollution is an extremely prevalent and urgent crisis of our times but there is just not enough awareness or action being taken to fix it.

And now a Saudi initiative is trying to raise the responsibility amongst individuals to keep beaches clean

The initiative’s Instagram account is currently sharing information about beach and sea pollution and what individuals can do to improve the situation.

Although not a lot of details have yet been shared on what the process will be but the idea seems to be that everyone must be encouraged to take responsibility of the beach near their community and keep it clean. Only through these individual actions multiplied can a real change take place.

They also seem to be hosting a collection of beach cleanup drives and will be sharing details of the dates and locations soon.

Saudi Arabia has also launched a hotline to report any cases of pollution or abuse towards the environment or wildlife. Cases can be reported to 911 in the regions of Makkah and Riyadh, and 996 and 999 in all other regions of the Kingdom.
