If you watch the World Cup in Saudi Arabia, the chances are that the feed will be provided by a channel called beoutq, a not-so-subtle name for ‘Be Out Qatar’.

The channel is in response to the fall out with Qatar that commenced on the 5th of June 2017.

One of the mandates that the four nations, KSA, UAE, Bahrain and Egypt, have demanded of Qatar is that they shut down Al Jazeera TV network, which broadcasts BEIN sports.

This wasn’t adhered to and has yet to be done.

Saudi Arabia is considering legal action against BEIN Sports for bringing politics into football broadcasting

BEIN has the exclusive rights for broadcasting the FIFA World Cup in the region

The reason Saudi Arabia doesn’t want to show BEIN sports, is because the claim that commentators use that avenue to spread political propaganda.

The streaming of beoutq isn’t because the cost of the World Cup package has become too expensive.

In the UAE, subscribers of Du and Etisalat have to pay approximately AED100 more this world cup than in 2014.

The TV boxes are available in all major electronic stores across the kingdom.

Saudi Arabia is taking TV piracy seriously and around 8,000 illegal boxes have been confiscated in the last few weeks

Arab News has reported that Saudi authorities have initiated a crackdown. The move is a sign, that while the authorities believe that piracy is illegal and not acceptable, neither is propaganda via foreign owned TV channels.

FIFA has released a statement and it has been shared by BEIN and runs across all matches annoying viewers

BEIN has decided to make feelings towards beoutq known, by relaying a FIFA statement on all matches shown on BEIN with a red ticker at the bottom.

It has yet been able to stop beoutq from transmitting the rights.
