Just when you thought divorces are happening for the weirdest of reasons, a new divorce case has popped up that will probably make even the weirdest of divorce cases look normal as this one is over a shawarma.

According to StepFeed, a woman asked her husband to buy her shawarma but he refused saying that it was too expensive and this provoked her to ask for a divorce.

The couple were married for just 40 days and the woman was tired of the frugal nature of her husband. 

He apparently refused to buy her a shawarma as he already had bought her juice during their outing.

She appeared before a family court where she said “After I endured forty days of being married to him, I begged him to take me out somewhere, as we hadn’t gone anywhere as a married couple. He reluctantly agreed.”

She added “During the outing, I asked my husband to buy me a shawarma, but he refused, saying ‘we went out to get juice and that’s it’. He also accused me of trying to ‘exploit his wealth’, by forcing him to buy both juice and a sandwich all at once.”

According to the woman, her husband continued to berate her during their outing and told her to go home using public transport.  Soon after the incident she went back to her family and filed for a divorce.

The divorce case is currently ongoing trial in an Egyptian court and the result is expected to be announced within a few weeks.
