Maintenance Of The Holy Kaaba & Hijr Ismail Completed To Highest Global Standards

In a massive achievement for the Kingdom’s engineering and technical sectors, the General Authority for the Care of the Grand Mosque and the Prophet’s Mosque has officially announced the completion of routine maintenance for the Holy Kaaba and Hijr Ismail.

The project, which was executed under the direct supervision of the Kingdom’s leadership, ensures that the Sacred House remains in its most magnificent form as it prepares for the upcoming Hajj 2026 season.

It took 4,700 man-hours of precision

The maintenance wasn’t just a simple facelift; it was a complex operation that clocked in over 4,700 man-hours. The project included 31 main packages and 305 distinct activities, covering everything from the Kaaba’s interior and roof to detailed structural inspections.Despite the scale of the work, a precise operational plan ensured that the flow of pilgrims around the Mataf remained completely uninterrupted.

The technical upgrades

The scope of work involved high-level technical expertise, including:

• Expansion Joints: Replacing over 30 linear meters of expansion joints (silicone) around the Kaaba.
• Marble Re-grouting: Re-grouting more than 50 meters of marble joints to ensure structural stability.
• Mirror Finish: A complete grinding and polishing of the surrounding marble floors to ensure they shine from all directions.

A major point of pride for the project was that it was implemented entirely by qualified Saudi national personnel.
