KSA and Ukraine Sign Major Defense Pact During President Zelenskyy’s Visit

The eyes of the world turned to Jeddah this week as HRH Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman welcomed Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy for a high-stakes meeting that ended with a landmark partnership.

More than just a meeting

While the world watched, Saudi Arabia and Ukraine made things official by signing a major memorandum of understanding on defense procurement.

The deal was signed in Jeddah by Dr. Khaled Al-Biyari (Assistant Minister of Defense) and Lt. Gen. Andriy Hnatov (Chief of the General Staff of the Armed Forces of Ukraine).

The partnership includes a unique exchange of expertise: Ukraine is set to share its real-world battlefield experience in countering drone and missile threats.

With aerial security being a top priority for regional stability right now, this exchange is a game-changer. Zelenskyy highlighted that Ukraine is ready to work hand-in-hand with Saudi teams to “strengthen the protection of lives” using the systems they’ve spent years perfecting.

Beyond the defense tech, the leaders took a deep dive into the biggest crises on the map

From the military escalation in the Middle East to the latest developments in the Ukrainian crisis, the Crown Prince continues to position Saudi Arabia as the essential bridge for global peace.

By balancing these complex relationships, the Kingdom is proving once again that the Kingdom is where the world’s most important conversations happen.

Following the successful signing and high-level talks, President Zelenskyy has officially departed from Jeddah. But the work is just beginning.
