20 Umrah Pilgrims Were Killed In A Horrific Bus Accident In Asir
Around 49 pilgrims set out on a bus from Khamis Mushayt to Abha yesterday, and unfortunately got into a horrific accident.
The bus trampled over a bridge due to a brake malfunction and caught fire
The bus was traveling on the 14 kilometer route of Aqabat Shaar, which features 11 tunnels and 32 bridges. This resulted in 21 casualties and 29 injuries. Authorities closed the road after the accident, to facilitate the passage of the Civil Defense and Red Crescent teams to the site of the accident. The injured were transferred immediately to receive treatment in Asir Central, Muhayil Asir and Abha Private Hospitals.
