It’s only been over a month since we’re in 2023, and Saudi Arabia has already witnessed the Diriyah E-Prix, Spanish Super Cup, Dakar Rally, and the Italian Super Cup *catches breath*. This just sets the tone of what’s to come. It’s going to be an action-packed year.
The Saudi Cup is one of the highlights of the international equestrian calendar and will gallop onto Riyadh’s King Abdulaziz Racetrack in February. With a total purse of US$20 million and the winner taking home a huge US$10 million, the nine-furlong event is set to be a real thriller, with some of the finest horses and jockeys in the world competing for glory.

The pair have been due to face each other twice before, but both bouts were called off. The duo will finally battle it out in Riyadh. Both have been undefeated in their pro-boxing careers, and it looks like Riyadh will see one of them lose that record.

Right from its inception, the Saudi Arabian GP has always been very eventful. Racing fans will have the opportunity to watch some of the best drivers in the world race their way around the fastest street circuit in the F1 calendar. Saudi Arabia is also hosting Gamers8, the world’s biggest esports and gaming festival, in the summer. With a prize pool of more than $30 million, the event will include esports competitions, live music, shows, and educational platforms.

The LIV Golf Invitational Series will spread its events around the globe in 2023, with stops in Australia, Latin America, Europe, Asia, and the Middle East. KAEC’s Royal Greens Golf & Country Club will host the final round of the tournament.

Get ready to welcome the FIFA Club World Cup 2023 to Saudi Arabia, as the kingdom is set to become the sixth country in the world to host the tournament. So much has happened for football in the past year: Saudi Arabia beat Argentina in the World Cup, Al-Hilal FC became the first Saudi side to make it to the finals of the Club World Cup, the kingdom won the bid to host the 2027 AFC Asian Cup, and now this. Wooh!

The eventful sporting calendar of Saudi Arabia will also have a bout of boxing legend Manny ‘PacMan’ Pacquiao who comes out of retirement for a one-off exhibition match. The Filipino boxing star will face his old sparring partner, the unbeaten Jaber Zayani, in an exciting eight-round fight.
