7 Saudi Snacks The World Needs To Try

Avatar

In Saudi Arabia, there are gazillions of home-grown snack brands, and some of these are so good that even big foreign brands just can’t compete with them in the markets here. They’re now slowly finding their way to international markets, and with good reason – they’re just so GOOD!

1.  L’usine

Although the delectable croissant originated far away from Saudi, it is possible that no other country outside of France has accepted it with the same zeal as here. The l’usine cheese and zaatar croissant is something that peeps swear by.

2. Indomie

Contrary to what many believe, Indomie isn’t a Saudi company – it does have a manufacturing plant here though and has been here for ages. And, it’s perhaps thanks to its huge popularity in Saudi that it’s now in several places. If you check the bags of any student flying overseas to study, chances are that you’ll most probably find Indomie in them. Yes, it’s that important for most.

3. Tasali Chips

Pick any flavour, well, almost any, and chances are that you’ve hit upon a gem. Tasali chips are now available in an absurdly wide range of flavours. One of the newest ones is a date and tahini flavoured one. Your thoughts?

4. Belvita Kleija

Kleijas are kind of like an Arabian version of a cookie, and once you start including them with your morning coffee or tea, then that habit will be super difficult to let go – it just pairs so well.

5. Abu Walad Sandwich Biscuits

These biscuits have a cult status, especially among the older generation, who’ve relied on these biscuits to complement their evening tea for decades. For them, no other biscuit would do.

7. Gandour Safari

You can have dozens of these and still not burn a hole in your wallet. The phrase “value for money” seems as if it were coined for this. Pro-tip: Make a milkshake using this—it’s just otherworldly!
