A cool documentary called “Destined to Play: The untold story of Saudi women’s football” has dropped on FIFA+. As the name suggests, this documentary is all about the Saudi Arabian women’s national football team and their incredible journey.

This 45-minute doc gives an exclusive peek into how the women’s national football team came to be and how it’s been growing by leaps and bounds ever since.

SAFF’s Women’s Football Department has been making some big moves, from establishing senior and U-17 teams to launching the Premier League and First Division in 2019.

They even started a school league, with a whopping 48,000 girls from 3,600 schools getting in on the action. Plus, last year, there was an 86 percent surge in female players signing up.

The Saudi Arabian women’s national team has a dream too: they want to make it to the FIFA Women’s World Cup, and they’ve been making great progress since they started in 2021. After playing nine matches and even winning a friendly tournament, they made history by entering the official FIFA/Coca-Cola Women’s World Ranking for the first time earlier this year.
