A Saudi Airlines flight had an unexpected detour on Tuesday, swooping down at Prince Mohammed bin Abdulaziz International Airport to rescue a Yemeni woman whose health took a nosedive.
According to the Saudi Gazette, the Riyadh-bound plane diverted 30 minutes post-takeoff from Jeddah, prompted by a Saudi medical team’s swift response onboard.
Ghaith Muhammad Al-Omari, a passenger and Saudi journalist, recounted that the Yemeni woman fainted half an hour into the Jeddah takeoff.
With her situation critical, the medical team urgently advised transferring her to the hospital. The pilot, informed of the situation, rerouted for an emergency landing at Madinah airport. Upon landing, the airport’s medical team took charge.
Abdulrahman Hamouda, spokesperson for the Madinah Health Cluster, shared that the health control centre promptly examined the Yemeni woman, revealing neurological complications.
