King Salman announced a new royal decree that has paved the way for citizenship for children of Saudi mothers and foreign fathers, according to the Khaleej Times.
The decree amends Article 8 of the kingdom’s citizenship law.
The applicants must meet a number of requirements before they can become citizens, according to the report, including being born and living permanently in the kingdom, being able to speak Arabic, having good moral character, not having any criminal convictions, and not having served more than six months in prison for any indecent act.
